2009 Focus 1.6 TDCi. 73,000 miles. I've recently started getting an intermittent 'engine malfunction' message on the trip display a few seconds after start-up, but no accompanying warning lamp on the speedo. Engine sounds and runs fine, as best I can tell, with no noticeable reduction in power.

My Focus cc3 has been fantastic and have had very few issues with it. However this week I have been getting Intermittent Engine Malfunction on Dash display. This is only on start up, it never happens while driving. There is No engine management light on at all. Car runs perfectly fine with no issues. Its very strange.
Possible causes : An electrical fault in the Turbocharger control circuit. MAP sensor electrical failure. Inspect connectors for signs of damage, water ingress, corrosion, etc. If the code is set at idle renew the turbocharger. If the code is not set at idle investigate faults with the MAP. ===END DTC P2263:73-E8===.
